The Dragons lost their opening game against the Croydon Rangers 18 to 8 but managed to bounce back against the Melbourne Uni Royals at the weekend.
The Dragons won 24 to 6.
Coach Robert Hunter said it was how he expected the season to begin but expected the team to reach the finals at the end of the year.
"The tram will still take a few games to play as one, as was the case last year," he said.
"We now have that rookie year under our belt which will allow a much faster progress."
However the team was dealt a blow with American import Demontrez Simington suffering a season-ending injury, rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.
Hunter said despite the bad news Simington had already signed on to play next season.
He also hinted at more players from around the world to be added to the team.
The Dragons next face the reigning Vic Bowl division one champions, Monash.
"Playing Monash is going to be a true test of character for us," Hunter said.
"How we handle the challenge, what we learn and our ability to remain mentally into the program will determine the final scores."
The game will be played at Sydney Pargeter Reserve in Endeavour Hills at 10.30am on Sunday.
