The Lady Braves were staring down the barrel of a shock loss to the Tornadoes when they trailed by 10 points late in the third quarter.
A lift in defensive intensity sparked the Lady Braves on a 12- run encompassing the final two minutes of the third term and the first 75 seconds of the final quarter.
The Tornadoes regained the lead briefly, but the Lady Braves carried the momentum down the stretch to score a gutsy victory.
Chantella Perera was outstanding for the Spirit, scoring 25 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
Kerryn Harrington gave the Lady Braves some scoring punch off the bench, with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Lauren King added 17 points and eight rebounds.
Import Lasondra Barrett had 13 points and four rebounds.
The Lady Braves are at home to the Basketball Australia Centre Of Excellence on Friday night, before playing the Albury/Wodonga Lady Bandits in Albury on Saturday night.
