The Swifts rebounded in emphatic style after back-to-back losses in the ANZ Championships, winning 65-52.
The round nine Anzac Day game saw Thwaites shoot 32 goals from 35 attempts in just two and a half quarters.
Thwaites was then put on the bench with Swifts coach Rob Wright giving minutes to all of his interchange players.
Thwaites told the NSW Swifts website it was important to take that first quarter momentum into the rest of the match.
“We tend to have really good starts to games, which is great but you need to keep that level of intensity going for the full 60 minutes,” she said.
“I think the second or third quarter we didn’t really do that consistently enough so that’s something we will continue to work on at training.
“We need to learn to really put our foot down and make our opposition pay when we find ourselves in those positions.”
The Swifts now sit in third place on the ladder with five matches remaining this season.
This week they will face rivals, the Melbourne Vixens on Sunday afternoon.
The Vixens have won its past five games and sit on top of the ANZ Championship table.
Echuca mid-court player Caitlyn Strachan was on the interchange for the Vixens in their win against the Central Pulse in Wellington.
Kerang’s Julie Corletto was among the stars in the Northern Mystics thrilling win over the Mainland Tactix.
Mystics shooter Maria Tutaia scored in the final second to win the match.
The final score was 61-60.
The Mystics came from a goal down to win the game, increasing their chances of making the top four.
They sit in sixth spot, just two points out of the top four.
Meanwhile Bendigo keeper Rebecca Bulley was on the receiving end of a one goal loss.
Her team, the Adelaide Thunderbirds, lost by one to the Waikato BOP Magic at the Energy Events Centre in New Zealand on Sunday.
Bulley along with defenders Renae Hallinan and Kate Shimmin played well, shutting down the Magic’s attackers, but it wasn’t enough.
The final score 50-49.
The Thunderbirds have now lost five games in a row.
The team will look to bounce back this week when they host the West Coast Fever on Saturday.
