The Roos learned from the mistakes they made a week earlier against Golden Square, this time hanging on to a final term advantage to win 14.11 (95) to 11.14 (80).
“We spoke about it (the last quarter fadeout against Golden Square) through the week and we just wanted to make sure that when we got in that situation again that we didn’t go back into our shells,’’ Kangaroo Flat coach Jason Stevens said.
“Against Square we went too defensive. This time around we continued to attack and we got the result we were after.”
A 5.1 to 0.5 third quarter broke the game open for the Roos, who took their season record to 3-1.
Centre half-forward Cam Rinaldi was the hero for the Roos, kicking 6.1 in a best on ground performance.
“It was Cam’s beast game for the club,’’ Stevens said.
“He worked hard up the ground and when he got his opportunities in front of goal he kicked really well.”
Midfielders Luke Lougoon and Corey Greer were instrumental in the win, while forward Corbin Fleming and defender Dylan Clohesy also impressed.
Eaglehawk was left to lament wayward kicking in front of goal.
The Hawks had enough of the ball, but didn’t make the Roos pay on the scoreboard.
The Borough was best served by Brodie Filo, Josh Ketterer and ruckman Tim Nicolson.
Kangaroo Flat faces its toughest test of the season so far next Saturday when it plays Sandhurst at the QEO, while the Borough should bounce back with a win over Castlemaine at Canterbury Park.
