Foodshare is a worthy asset to our community.
An organisation that takes donations from community-minded businesses and distributes them to agencies for the needy.
Foodshare supports about 14,000 people in our community each month.
But donor manager Fay Barrett has revealed transport restrictions mean 10 to 12 pallets of food a month can not be picked up.
That's a lot of offerings that could be well used by those in need in our community that aren't getting to them.
Bendigo Foodshare has tripled its food distribution in the past financial year - donating about 811,000 kilograms of food
What's most concerning about this story is the fact the need is only going to grow larger in the future.
Bendigo Foodshare has tripled its food distribution in the past financial year - donating about 811,000 kilograms of food which equates to around 1.3 million meals.
If you're a transport company looking to do some great community work - hard to imagine finding a more worthy cause than that to share your expertise with.
