The buildings were marked with purple spray paint sometime Tuesday night, which the City of Greater Bendigo expects will cost "several thousand dollars" to remove.
Eaglehawk resident Geoff Combe said he was disappointed with the behaviour of the vandals describing it as "antisocial".
"I think they are idiots," he said.
"It is nothing new, though.
"Every now and then there is an outbreak of antisocial behaviour."
City of Greater Bendigo building and property services manager Andy Walker said the damage would be costly to remove.
"The city expects it will cost several thousand dollars to remove the graffiti from the Eaglehawk Town Hall, Court House, Mechanics Institute, public toilets in Canterbury Park and Senior Citizens Centre," he said.
"It also appears a number of private buildings were also targeted."
A council contractor started removing the graffiti from the public buildings yesterday and said it would take several days to complete the job.
People with information relating to the vandalism should contact Bendigo police on 5448 1300 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
