Viv Armstrong is a full-time mother to three children; a 17-year-old girl with autism who she has guardianship of, a little girl she’s recently adopted and a six-year-old girl on a foster placement, all with various health needs.
Barnardos said her house seemed to have elastic sides as she was always taking in children and investing boundless energy in improving the quality of life for children with disabilities.
“Viv always go the extra mile, especially for her kids. She is like Santa - loved by kids always jolly and giving; a truly magical and amazing mum,” a spokesperson said.
Viv said she loved being a mother.
“Everybody always says to me it’s hard work, but it’s a constant joy,” she said.
The other Victorian state finalists are Samantha Jackel from Ferny Creek and Sandra Kelly from Briagolong.
The winner of the Barnardos Mother Of The Year 2014 Victoria will be revealed in a ceremony in Melbourne on Tuesday.
The national winner will be announced in May.
