UPDATE 1.34PM: A BENDIGO mechanic had a lucky escape after gunshots were fired at his Eaglehawk shed on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred about 9.30pm at Ansell Auto Repairs, owned by Baden Ansell, who was working back late at the time.
Mr Ansell said he heard noises but thought it was from people throwing rocks at his shed.
"I heard noises like a rock being thrown at the shed," Mr Ansell said.
"Sometimes my mates chuck rocks at the shed so I'll let them in."
He said he left work shortly after the incident but didn't notice the bullet holes as it was dark.
But the next morning, about 8.45am, he returned to work and saw bullet holes in the shed and a car parked at the property.
He called the police immediately.
Mr Ansell said he wasn't very worried about the incident but "my wife was pretty upset about it."
"She's more upset than me," he said.
"I'm not that worried because I just don't understand.
"I reckon it's just someone being an idiot."
But Mr Ansell said he was lucky he wasn't out the front of his shed at the time the shots were fired.
"If I had been going home at the time I probably would have ended up with a head injury," he said.

EARLIER: A Bendigo mechanic came to work on Wednesday morning to find bullet holes in the tin wall of his mechanic's shed.
The business is on Upper California Gully Road, Eaglehawk.
The man told police he heard the tin walls being hit about 9:30pm on Tuesday, as he was working at the time, but he thought it was just people throwing rocks at the wall.
The Bendigo Crime Investigation Unit is investigating the incident.
