BENDIGO Advertiser deputy editor Nicole Ferrie has won a Victoria Law Foundation 2014 Legal Reporting Award.
Nicole's in depth-feature on sexting laws won her the Best Report in Community or Regional Media award at a ceremony on Tuesday night.
The piece ran in the October 19 edition of the Advertiser and looks at how teens are being caught in the pornography web.
The judges commented: "Nicole’s explanatory piece on “sexting” was a community service to children and parents because it revealed the legal and other issues associated with the telephone text messaging of sexual material."
Others highly commended in the category were Anthea Cannon, Geelong Advertiser; Darren Linton, Shepparton News; Dana McCauley, Leader Newspapers; and Nigel McNay, Border Mail.
