Liberal Member for Western Victoria Simon Ramsay unveiled the Big Fill, a $155,000 vehicle is fitted with a powerful engine and a Rosenbauer pump, at a ceremony last weekend.
The new piece of equipment was funded by the Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program and local community.
“With only a two-person crew, the Big Fill can draw on water from dams, pools, tanks or mains and maximises the effectiveness of this brigade and others it works with,” Mr Ramsay said.
“In an area like the Macedon Ranges where fire can spread quickly, the Big Fill’s tremendous capacity means crews can get back to the fire-front extremely quickly.
“The Victorian Coalition Government’s investment in improving that response will make a significant difference in saving lives and property wherever the Big Fill is deployed.”
