An interest-free loan of $17,200 was awarded under the Heritage Restoration Loan Scheme, which assists owners of heritage buildings to undertake restoration and conservation projects.
Union Hotel owner Ken Lim said he looked forward to returning the pub to its original glory.
“Without the loan we would not be able to restore the hotel to a good condition,” Mr Lim said.
“The hotel is located on the main street of Heathcote, so it is important to renovate the balcony and try to reinstate the original look of the building.”
Applicants are eligible to receive an interest-free loan to the value of half of the cost of the project.
