The Gold will face the Pies in a pre-season hit out at Victoria Park at 1pm.
Jones said with Collingwood suffering a big round one loss in the AFL last weekend, he is tipping the Pies will come out firing.
“It will be like we are playing a home and away match,” he said.
“Some of their guys who didn’t play in round one will want to play hard and push for selection in round two.”
Last Saturday the Gold recorded a six-goal win against Footscray, it was the first time Bendigo had beaten a VFL opponent since becoming a stand-alone team last year.
Jones said if the side could replicate their efforts from last week against the Pies he would be happy.
“I am looking for the same attention from the guys,” he said.
“Last week was probably the most disciplined I have seen them play and that sort of effort is what we need to compete at this level.”
Jones said every Gold player on the list would have played a practice game.
"After the Collingwood game everyone would have got a taste of the game," he said.
"There is a real genuine excitement among the boys, they are all ready for round one."
