A classy A-grade field for the 40-minute and three-lap duel included Bendigo International Madison winner Sam Crome, and top road rider Shaun McCarthy.
There were many breakaway attempts.
Lapthorne's move on the final lap was to be a winning one as he raced to victory ahead of McCarthy, Crome, Brenton Slotegraaf, Luke Knox and Jason Lea.
The afternoon's racing drew 45 starters across three grades.
Other winners were Joel Fahy, B-grade, and Mark Buckell, C-grade.
