The 19-year-old Wines is entering his second season with the Power and has committed for another two years with Port Adelaide.
Wines played all 24 games for the Power last season and was nominated for the Rising Star Award after his debut match against Melbourne.
Wines - from Echuca - described Port Adelaide as a "home away from home" and said his contract extension was only a matter of time.
“It probably wasn’t playing on my mind too much, although, I did cop a bit of flack on Twitter for not signing up yet,” Wines told Port Adelaide's club website.
“I wanted to be patient with it and make sure I was fully comfortable being over here.
“My time at the club has been fantastic so far and I’m really comfortable with where I’m at.”
Wines and his Power team-mates open their 2014 season against Carlton at Etihad Stadium next Sunday night.
