The South Australian-based cyclists will mark their fourth start in Bendigo's great race, and third as team-mates.
The highest-placed Australian team in the 2013 Australian Madison, Tansley and Scotson know plenty about big-time racing.
Scotson has arrived in Bendigo after winning gold in the teams pursuit at the world track titles in Colombia.
Tansley is from Mandurang and the Tom Flood Sports Centre track is where his cycling career began.
The 20-year-old headed across to Adelaide when he was 16 to join the South Australia Sports Institute where Tim Decker is coach.
The pursuit and sprint skills of both will be tested in the 200-lap battle.
"Each team has various strengths and weaknesses," Tansley said.
""We have raced Leif and Christian (reigning champions Lampater and Grassman) a few times.
"Alex Edmondson and Glenn O'Shea have a lot of strengths, too."
Scotson said the 80km distance and number of sprints made Bendigo's classic a unique madison.
"The last 60 laps, a sprint every five laps is when gaps open in the field. We have to be ready."
Tansley is rapt to be back.
"It's great to be in my hometown. I grew up watching this race, so to be in the madison means a lot to me," Tansley said.
