The Hawks last year had to forfeit the second half of the under-17 season because of a lack of numbers and the situation hasn't improved for the club.
The Hawks have appointed Lachie O'Toole as their under-17 coach this year.
O'Toole - who played in three premierships at Golden Square - was a member of last year's Huntly team that was beaten in the senior grand final.
"We believe Lachie is a great appointment for our club as under-17 coach," Huntly president Ian Sladden said on Saturday.
"He is a teacher at Huntly Primary School and wants to see the club progress to become a successful part of the HDFL and something that the town of Huntly can be proud of.
"Our aim is to keep kids playing football, so if there are any under-17 guys who think they may struggle to get a game somewhere, they are most welcome to come out to Huntly."
The Huntly under-17s train on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6pm at the Huntly ground. O'Toole can be contacted on 0447 712 231 for more information.
