INGLEWOOD residents are throwing their support behind National Red Balloon Day.
The town's newsagent will hand out balloons today with copies of the Bendigo Advertiser so residents can show their support for firefighters.
Newsagent John Stanford said he was delighted to support the initiative.
"It is about showing appreciation for what the fireys do for us," he said.
"A lot of local firies have been deployed to fires around the state - they do a great job."
Kevin and Dorothy Stevens said they would tie balloons to their house.
"We appreciate the firies for the work they do," Mr Stevens said.
"It is well worthwhile."
Mr Stevens said his son-in-law worked for the Country Fire Authority as an operations manager.
"Many of them are volunteers and don't get the recognition they deserve," he said.
"We just want to say thanks."
