It marks the third consecutive year the bank has received the accolade, after being judged best in business at the inaugural awards in 2011 and again in 2012.
Bendigo Bank retail executive Dennis Bice said the award was recognition of the significant investment the bank had made in the business space throughout 2013.
“Over the past 12 months we have invested heavily in staff training, and looked at innovative ways to engage with our business network,” he said.
“We continue to strive to improve our business offering, so we can retain the wonderful support of our loyal customers.”
Mr Bice said the bank had also been busy investigating opportunities in the digital space, opening up new ways of doing business for both the bank and its customers.
“We know we must remain nimble and evolve to meet the changing needs of our business customers,” he said.
Bendigo Bank’s business banking team is made up of 300 staff across Australia, providing specialist advice and services including cash flow solutions, interest rate risk management, agribusiness, merchant facilities and insurance.
“We know businesses want advice tailored to their individual needs, not just another generic service,” Mr Bice said.
In another win this week, Bendigo and Adelaide Bank became the first community bank in Victoria to take advantage of the NBN connecting its new branch in Glen Waverley.
The bank plans to connect all its 500 branches to the NBN, as the network is rolled-out across the country.
Bendigo and Adelaide Bank managing director Mike Hirst said world-class broadband infrastructure was critical for the bank’s branch network.
“This technology will help our branch staff work quicker and smarter, and allows us to develop innovative new ways to provide the best in customer contact and care,” Mr Hirst said.
The bank has connected its Glen Waverley branch via NBN retail service provider Bendigo Community Telco (BCT).
BCT was chosen by the Bank because of its status as the only Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant network provider in Australia.
John Simon, NBN co head of product and sales said it is great to see financial institutions like Bendigo and Adelaide Bank take advantage of the benefits as they access the National Broadband Network.
“As NBN Co continues to rollout the infrastructure nationally, our customers – the retail service providers such Bendigo Community Telco – are utilising the capability of NBN data and voice services to enable innovation and service to their customers,” Mr Simon said.
BCT general manager technology Bryan Pedersen said demand for the NBN was rising among the telco’s business clients.
“By hooking our customers into the NBN we can offer converged voice and data networking that lowers their costs and increases their productivity,” Mr Pederson said.
