The Lions Clubs of Maiden Gully, Marong and Strathfieldsaye and the Bendigo and District Neighbourhood Watch recently raised money to buy a Subaru Forester luxury for the unit.
Inspector Michael Talbot thanked the groups for their generous donation.
"It's always great to have something where the community has worked with the police to achieve an outcome," he said.
"You can be absolutely sure we will be committed to putting this vehicle to good use."
Inspector Talbot said the vehicle would be dedicated to work to prevent crime and public order issues and would not be used for day-to-day patrolling activities.
"It's a non-confrontational car and it's our aim to get out into the community early," he said.
"We can't do everything on our own and it's great to have the community with us."
