The successful applicant will take over from Jeff Brennan, who has coached the BFL's inter-league team since 2009 for a 3-2 win-loss record.
"It will take a period of time to go through the interview process to make sure we get the right person for the job," AFLCV regional operations manager Justin Abrams said on Friday.
"We've already had a couple of really good applicants apply for the job, so we'll see if we get a few more before applications close on Friday."
Bendigo, which is ranked No.7, will host Gippsland at the Queen Elizabeth Oval on Saturday, May 24.
