Ridden by jockey Billy Egan and trained by Patrick Payne, consistent stayer Angelology ($2.40) finished strongly to win by three-quarters-of-a-length from Base ($17).
Cadel's Gold ($3.90) had to settle for bronze, rounding out the placings to finish third.
The win was five-year-old Angelology's eighth of its 28-start career.
However, with an exhausted Egan, who turned 24 during the week, falling ill after the race and Payne not at the track, the post-match media work was left up to strapper Emma Collins.
"We're really happy with the result," Collins said.
"Billy settled him well in the run and rode him fantastic. He had him nice and relaxed and let him go when the time was right. He finished perfect.
"He's a fantastic horse. He's very honest, always tries his hardest and never lets us down. We couldn't have asked for any more from him today."
Despite the meeting being brought forward three hours from its original twilight timeslot because of the heat, the Cup at 1.20pm was still raced in a tough 38 degrees.
Meanwhile, Bendigo trainer Shane Fliedner enjoyed a home-track triumph when Racing Tycoon ($21) won the Jack Drechsler Memorial (1500m).
Racing Tycoon was ridden to victory by jockey Brian Higgins. The three-year-old gelding now has two wins from five starts.
