Bendigo Animal Welfare and Community Services and St Luke’s Anglicare each received $2500 after staff made fortnightly donations through last financial year.
Bendigo Smart Centre manager Wayne Johnson said staff went beyond their daily duties to support the local community.
“Staff at this site have an impressive track record of raising money for local community organisations,” he said.
“Over the last three years, we have donated over $16,000 to local services and charities.
“Staff voted to raise money for these two respected community organisations that support people and pets in need.”
BAWCS president Debbie Edwards said the funds would go towards the care and rehousing of unwanted pets.
St Luke’s Anglicare marketing and communications manager Jacqui Mott said donations will benefit families who are doing it tough.
