The company behind the Bull Street nightclub, CPL Cooper, was placed into liquidation this week.
Renovation work is being undertaken at the site, which is believed to be in preparation for sale or lease.
Owner David Cambridge, who also owns The Pier Hotel in Port Melbourne, did not return calls.
CPL Cooper director Craig Cooper’s phone has been disconnected.
But several tradespeople have worked at the venue for at least a week, undertaking minor repairs.
HuHa closed in December, and the business was listed for voluntary winding up this week.
Creditors will meet on January 30.
The company was pursued by Australian Liquor Marketers in the Supreme Court over the owed money, and the matter was eventually resolved.
Mr Cooper said at the time the debt was incurred at the Flagstaff Hotel in Maryborough, and it is not known if the debt was related to HuHa’s closure.
The HuHa Facebook page described the venue as an “institution” at the time of closure.
“Thank you all for an amazing three years of Top Floor Fridays, four years of HuHa Day Parties and five years of HuHa in general,” the page said.
