Golden Square Fire Brigade Captain Paul Davis said summer was well under way.
"There have already been hundreds of fires across the state, and being prepared makes you safer from bushfires," he said.
"Local hazards like grass fires around the outer residential areas of Bendigo and nearby towns make it particularly important that every member of the community is ready.
“Grassfires can move very quickly, which leaves you very little time to respond if you are not prepared.
“Good preparation means you’re not caught out if something goes wrong; a missed warning, a power failure, a road closure or just bad decisions made in a hurry."
Mr Davis said CFA volunteers were trained and ready to protect their communities.
