QUIT smoking, spend more time with the family and live a healthy lifestyle are some of Bendigo's new-year resolutions.
Bendigonians have shared their wishes and dreams for the new year with a majority hoping for good health and more family time.
Friends Jeff Brennan and Luke Solomano shared a dinner of fish and chips with their families at Lake Weeroona on Tuesday night.
Both men hoped to spend more time with their families in the new year.
"I want to spend as much time as possible with the kids," Mr Solomano said.
"It's what you work for really.
"Time just passes by so it's hard."
Peter Waters spent his evening strolling around Lake Weeroona and said his new year's resolution was to have none at all.
"When you are close to perfect it is hard," he said.
Mr Waters said he would watch the fireworks on television and would be asleep by 12.15am.
Ryan Donavan vowed to give up smoking as his new year's resolution.
"I gave up for 12 months one time," he said.
"Hopefully I can do it again.
"I really want to try."
For four years friends Dorothy Tonkin and Denise Spider are been reserving the same table at the Shamrock Hotel for New Year's Eve.
Ms Spider said she loved the view.
"You can see everything that is happening," she said.
"Also the food is terrific at the Shamrock as is the service.
"We love coming."
Ms Tonkin said she hoped for good health in the new year.
The pair said they would welcome the new year watching the fireworks on television.
Kerry Rees said she would enjoy a quiet evening at home but wouldn't pass up the opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine.
"New Year's Eve is a bit overrated when you are older," she said.
"I will enjoy a nice quiet evening.
"I will definitely watch the fireworks on the television."
Ms Rees said she hoped for a successful year in 2014.
