City of Greater Bendigo Mayor Barry Lyons said he would encourage the royals to pay a visit.
“I would love to host them,” he said.
“It is such a great spot, it has everything here.
"We will have the new library by then and the new art gallery will be sensational.
“We would certainly go out of the way to welcome them.”
Bendigo Trust bookings co-ordinator Kathie Knight said she would love to show them the sights of the city.
“I think they would really enjoy seeing the heritage of Bendigo,” she said.
“They could visit the tourist facilities and the Shamrock hotel where Charles visited.
“Charles drove the tram when he came and he enjoyed it and I don’t see any reason why they wouldn't like it, too.
“We would be happy to take them everywhere.”
The royal couple could also enjoy some fine dining.
Masons of Bendigo owner Nick Anthony said he would be happy to have them in the restaurant.
“We would just serve them the most amazing Central Victorian produce,” he said.
“We use locally sourced produce, which Bendigo is becoming famous for.
“If I had to pick one dish it would be my chargrilled McIvor Farm pork cutlet with pork belly and quinoa; something a bit more contemporary. They are kind of contemporary cool cats.
“Gone are the days of caviar; where something comes from is a big thing now. It is big in England as well and I am sure they are pretty savvy to that.
“It is good for people to see how wonderful the region is.”
Bendigonian Fred Martin said it would be good for the couple to follow in the footsteps of Charles and Diana, who visited Bendigo.
“They should do the same route around Australia.
“I was standing in the crowd outside the Shamrock Hotel when Charles and Diana came in 1983.
“It was a great atmosphere.”
