Facebook has just released its review of 2013, highlighting the most talked about topics in Australia.
Vote was the biggest topic for discussion on Facebook through 2013.
Princess Kate was Australia's second most favourite subject this year, followed by cricket, Kevin Rudd, grand final, election, GST, Lions, Tony Abbott and Big Brother.
Pope Francis was the most talked about topic in the world this year, followed by election, royal baby, typhoon, Harlem Shake, flood, Miley Cyrus, Boston Marathon, Tour de France and Nelson Mandela.
Cricket was the supreme sport topic on Facebook, with grand final, Lions, Roosters, rugby, Essendon, NRL, V8, Wallabies and Socceroos following.
The Melbourne Cricket Ground reigned supreme as the most 'checked in' place in Australia, followed by Crown Melbourne, Rod Laver Arena, Etihad Stadium, Darling Harbour, Sydney Opera House, Dreamworld Australia, The Star casino in Sydney, Bondi Beach and Sydney's ANZ Stadium.
When it comes to public figures, Australians were most fascinated with Princess Kate this year, followed by Kevin Rudd, Tony Abbott, Julia Gillard and Miranda Kerr.
The biggest political issue on Facebook for Australians this year was GST, followed by asylum seekers, NBN, gay marriage and immigration.
During the election campaign there were more than 12 million election-related mentions with more than one million posts on election day in Australia.
Big Brother ruled the entertainment buzz on Facebook, followed by The Voice, One Direction, Breaking Bad and Beyonce.
Where global life events were concerned, 'added a relationship', 'got engaged' or 'got married' ruled Facebook in 2013.
Next in line for global life events were travelled, moved, ended a relationship, first met a friend, added a family member/expecting or had a baby, got a pet, lost a loved one, got a piercing and quit a habit.
