Full-page ads ran in a number of newspapers on Thursday, with a message from Victorian Health Minister David Davis calling for an agreed outcome.
Ambulance Employees Australia state secretary Steve McGhie said the advertisements only told a fraction of the story and were an "extraordinary waste".
"Mr Davis’ letter is silent on the push for volunteers to replace trained paramedics in country areas," he said.
The state government's proposal includes an extra six per cent pay for paramedics next year, followed by rises of three per cent a year in 2015 and 2016, as well as a $1500 sign-on bonus.
Ambulance Victoria chief executive Greg Sassella said in an email the offer would be followed by further negotiations about changes to work practices. He said he was paying careful attention to address the union’s claims and was planning on releasing new wage schedules later this week.
