The rally leaves the Market Building at 11.30am to march up Barker Street to the Botanic Gardens, led by young people with a banner "Our Climate, Our Future".
Attendees have been asked to wear red and orange and bring noisy instruments to "turn up the heat" on climate change action.
The rally hosted by GetUp! is one of many being held around the nation.
After the rally the film TRASHED will be screened, an award-winning documentary feature film starring Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons, which explores the global waste crisis.
TRASHED received a Special Screening at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.
It will screen at the Castlemaine Theatre Royal on Sunday 17 November at 5.30pm to coincide with National Recycling Week.
