The event was also the official opening of the new college buildings, with Northern Victoria member Damian Drum present.
Principal Leanne Preece said Sunday was a proud day for the college.
"The new infrastructure is fantastic for our students and their learning," she said.
"It has changed the whole way learning and teaching at the college occurs."
Ms Preece said the college had launched a book titled 53 Years Creating Brilliance.
It was written by local woman Esma Turner and took her about 200 hours to complete.
Ms Turner said the book details the history of the school from when it was made up of portable classrooms through to its permanent buildings nowadays.
Past student Keith Sutherland said the school had undergone drastic change since he first started in 1961.
"It is a completely different school now," he said.
"It is a great place for learning- I was very happy when asked to come out and attend the celebrations."
