Bendigo Advertiser photographer Peter Weaving's pictures showing the present state of some of the graves dating back into the 1800s and early 1900s paint a sad picture.
The Bendigo Cemeteries Trust is a non-profit organisation that receives no funding to maintain graves.
That responsibility sits with the family of the person buried in the plot.
But when you consider these graves are so old, there's a fair chance all family connections are long gone from this community.
So the graves sit in their present state.
These historic sites will continue to fall apart unless someone with the time, money and motivation decides to repair them.
The question is... who will that be?
