ATHLETES from a wide spectrum of age groups and Bendigo clubs will compete at this weekend’s Gold Coast Marathon running festival.

Some wlll mark their first runs at the popular event, while others join the “10 Club”.
Athletics Bendigo clubs – Bendigo Harriers, Eaglehawk YMCA, South Bendigo and University – will be represented in Sunday’s racing.
University’s Frances Walsh will contest her 10th Gold Coast Marathon and 15th overall.
Her husband, Kevin, will race in the half-marathon, while their children, Lilly and Fraser, line up in the half-marathon and 10km respectively.
John McGrath will contest his 25th marathon and fourth on the Gold Coast.
Jenny McGrath has also put in many hours training for the marathon.
The Buckell brothers – Jacob, Jordan and Matt are in the 10km run and Ned will race 4km, with John Buckell also heading to the coast.
It’s the Buckells second hit-out on the popular strip which draws thousands of runners each year.
Another family bound for the coast is the Sextons – Ben, Rochelle and Imogen in the 10km, Charlotte and Connor in the 4km.
After racing in the Boston Marathon earlier this year, Alan and Jenny Buchanan rack up another start, with their son Andy to race 10km.
Also racing will be Jane Carter (marathon); Melissa Douglas (half marathon) and Ross Douglas (6km); Andrew, Julie and Maddy Evely (half); Greg Hilson (marathon); Jess, Jeff and Cath Pethybridge (half marathon); and Brady Threlfall (half marathon).
