The milestone was not lost on the youngsters, who jumped at the opportunity to escape the classroom and don their party hats.
Students at Bendigo Violet Street Primary adopted some timely fashions to mark the occasion, swapping uniforms for high-waistline bottoms, vests and braces for a “100-year-old” look.
The would-be centenarians kept up the 100 theme, collecting 100 cans of food to donate to charity, playing 100 different activities and serving up 100 cupcakes.
Over at Strathfieldsaye Primary, prep students performed the traditional song “Happy 100 Days” for classmates over cupcakes, which together formed the shape of the number 100.
Last week, St Peter’s Primary also celebrated its prep children’s 100th day of school. The annual event is one looked forward to by both students and staff alike.
Leading up to the day, Strathfieldsaye Primary prep teacher Danielle Osborne said students were “very excited” about the celebrations and that they did not disappoint.
“It’s a very exciting day and the preps have loved counting each day they have been at school,” she said.
