The 46-year-old has entered a team called Hasty for a Cure into the relay and said she was looking forward to taking part in the emotional event.
Mrs Campbell lost her father and both her mother and father in-law to cancer.
She said this year’s relay was extra special as her mum, Moira Griffiths, would be lighting a candle on stage on Friday night, to honour loved ones lost. Mrs Campbell said the candle light ceremony was an emotional part of the overnight event.
“People will light candles and write prayers and messages,” she said.
Mrs Campbell said her family and friends were hoping a cure for cancer was found sooner rather than later.
“Relay for Life is all about raising money and trying to find a cure,” she said.
“That is why we take part in it each year.”
For Mrs Campbell and her team this will be their fourth relay event. “When we first started we had about 18 members and now we have about 30 people taking part and that is both family and friends,” she said.
“We have also done a lot of fund-raising. This year we have managed to raise around $2000.
“We are already thinking about what we can do to raise more money next year.”
