The project, launched late last month, is the brain child of Bendigo’s Jason Stirling and Melbourne’s David Fletcher.
It is the first of its kind and maps hundreds of cycling routes across the state, ensuring everyone can jump on their bikes with peace of mind.
Mr McGrory said the project would help road safety among cyclists – a key factor which he said prevented so many people from giving cycling a go.
“Road safety is the number one fear amongst all cyclist, but awareness builds tolerance,” he said.
“The more information we can share about the safer places to ride, and tips on how to avoid traffic incidents, the better the roads will be for all users.
“It will take some time for tolerance of cyclists by motorists to improve, so the more we can share information and awareness, the sooner that will happen.”
The team have put hundreds of hours and miles towards the site already, cycling across the state with head cameras to document the best routes.
They will continue to grow the site and are calling on everyone to contribute their favourite tracks to the ever-growing site. The pair also plan to create a mountain bike version in the coming 12 months, to respond to demand.
