After weeks of lobbying from the Spirit, BA this morning announced Bendigo Stadium would be suitable for the league's marquee match.
It was feared the Spirit, which finished on top of the WNBL ladder, would have to play the grand final in Melbourne, even if it won on Sunday, due to seating restrictions at Bendigo Stadium.
But the Spirit guaranteed the venue could hold the minimum required 3000 seats and has launched a campaign to help fund the almost $60,000 required to pay for temporary stands.
BA chief executive officer Kristina Keneally said the organisation was satisfied with the Spirit's proposal.
“We understand fans have been eagerly awaiting this announcement, which comes on the eve of the biggest game in the history of the club,” Ms Keneally said
“We have worked closely with the Bendigo Spirit to ensure the venue is capable of hosting the showpiece event of Australian Women’s basketball and deliver the best experience for our legion of fans.
“I would like to wish Bendigo and all teams in the WNBL Finals Series the best of luck.”
The Spirit hosts Dandenong at Bendigo Stadium from 4pm on Sunday.Tickets are available at the Stadium's box office, at bendigostadium.com.au or by calling 5440 6214..
