Jonathon Homewood, 31, pleaded guilty to a number of driving charges in the Bendigo Magistrates Court today.
The court heard his licence had been disqualified in November, 2011, but he was then caught driving by police in February and again in April.
Prosecuting, Acting Sergeant Lindsay Riley said the first incident occurred on the Calder Highway at Ravenswood where Homewood was clocked at 151kmh in a 100kmh zone.
“He did not slow down in the road works even though it was uneven and there were pot holes due to road resurfacing works,” Acting Sergeant Riley said.
Homewood’s lawyer Megan Aumair said the offences breached a two-month suspended sentence her client was given by the court in November.
Ms Aumair said she would not be arguing exceptional circumstances but was hoping any new jail term could be served concurrently with the reinstated sentence.
“He has struggled with a significant addiction to ice,” she said of her client.
“He has stopped using and is trying to get his life back on track.”
Magistrate William Gibb said the court had already tried several times to keep Homewood out of jail.
He cited several prior offences for speeding, drink driving and disqualified driving where Homewood received court orders and suspended sentences.
“It never ceases to amaze me that people with a record like yours, which is disgraceful, don’t drive in an orderly fashion so you don’t bring attention to yourself,” he said.
“Instead what do you do? You go barrelling along the highway at 150kmh.”
Mr Gibb restored the two-month suspended sentence and ordered Homewood to serve another two months on top of that. He also fined him $1300 with conviction.
