Bendigo Bushmaster saving lives in war zones

Last Thursday I joined the Federal Labor Minister for Defence Materiel, Jason Clare, and Thales employees at the official handover of the Hawkei prototype vehicle and trailer.

There was nothing but pride on the faces of so many hard workers when the minister declared that this Christmas at least 300 Australian families would celebrate Christmas thanks to the Bushmasters being made here in Bendigo.

These are the number of lives it’s estimated that the Bendigo Thales-built Bushmaster has saved in Afghanistan.

The Hawkei project, worth

$1.5 billion, is a huge tick of approval for Thales Bendigo and the great job done by the men and women who work there.

Ensuring that more manufacturing jobs will stay in the Bendigo region and for many years to come is core Labor business.

Lisa Chesters,

Labor Candidate for Bendigo
