Land destroyed in Eppalock fire

A FIRE near Lake Eppalock threatened a house and a car this afternoon. 

Seven Country Fire Authority (CFA) units were called to the Strathfieldsaye Road-Native Gully Crescent scene shortly before 12.30pm. 

Five acres of land was destroyed before CFA crews gained control of the fire just after 1pm. 

Mosquito Creek First Lieutenant Ken Maskell said circumstances surrounding the fire were suspicious, with police called to the scene. 

Lieutenant Maskell said a fire investigator would also look into the cause.
