Robert Potts, of Maryborough, faced Bendigo Magistrates Court yesterday via video link from Bendigo police station.
Potts’s lawyer Peter Baker said he couldn’t apply for bail as his client had no suitable accommodation.
Magistrate Richard Wright remanded Potts for a committal mention on March 6.
Potts is facing four counts of sexual penetration of a child under 16 and one count of committing an indecent act with a child under 16.
The complainant’s exact age was not disclosed.
