The 61-year-old driver of the car and the elderly passenger were taken to hospital after the crash at the busy intersection just after noon.
The passenger sustained an elbow injury and lacerations to her arm and the driver had chest soreness.
Both were taken to Bendigo Hospital and discharged later in the afternoon.
Sergeant Robert Walsh said both cars were travelling through the intersection on a green light. “The two cars were travelling in opposite directions on Williamson Street and one was turning into Myers Street,” he said.
“It appears one car turned in front of the other.”
SES workers and fire crews worked to free the woman after the passenger door was jammed shut in the crash.
“The other car pushed the passenger door close to the lady and we couldn’t open it,” senior station officer Craig Houlahan said.
“The SES used CFA rescue equipment to free the lady.”?
