As the parent of a student currently attending Weeroona College, I am encouraged to see students giving voice to their concerns, and the efforts by administration to respond in a positive and supportive manner.

The recent strike by some of the students at the school, and the desire by the school administration to listen to concerns are indicative of the passion felt by all involved to move the school in a positive direction next year.
Like all schools, Weeroona has its issues and concerns shared by students, parents, administration and teachers alike.
My understanding is that central to the current concern is news that forecast student numbers for 2013 might be down on previous years, which has made it necessary to lower staff numbers.
My wife and I are very pleased with the work that Leanne Preece has done to move the school forward since she became principal, and along with great staff and fantastic new buildings and surrounds, Weeroona College presents as an excellent school.
The real issue and sad reality is the forecast of lower student numbers in 2013, which will result in the school losing some valued members of their teaching staff.
Our hope is that the forecasts will prove to be wrong.
