Women of Beer will dispel the myth that beer’s best match is day-old pizza and a game of footy on TV.
Host Kirrily Waldhorn is a beer writer and beer judge, and also heads the Australian arm of Barley’s Angels, an international organisation aimed at encouraging more women to appreciate good beer.
Known as Australia’s “first lady of beer” she and guest MC Megan Spencer will match a series of craft beers with complementing cheeses. The event is the brainchild of Bendigo Beer and the Young Professionals Network.
Bendigo Beer’s Justin McPhail said the last time the groups put on a beer and food matching event 50 people came along.
“We thought we’d hold the event as the majority of people willing to try new beer at our events have in the past been women... (and) we want to dispel the myth that beer is a boys’ drink,” he said.
Women of Beer kicks off at 6pm tomorrow night at Honeyeater, 82 Pall Mall, Bendigo.
Tickets are $50 and can be bought at www.ypn.net.au
