WHEN friends heard about Stu Timms’ tragic accident on a Perth beach two weeks ago, they were shocked and saddened. But they knew they couldn’t just sit back and do nothing.Stu broke his neck when he dived into Scarborough beach and hit his head on a sandbar on December 11.It’s unlikely he will ever walk again.Stu’s former soccer club Spring Gully, Cahills Solicitors and other Bendigo organisations have banded together and organised an auction night to raise much-needed funds for the Bendigo teenager.Vanessa Milne of Cahills Solicitors said all money raised on the night would go towards alterations to the family home and essential items to help Stu and his family when he returns to Bendigo. She also encouraged other local businesses to donate goods for auction. The charity auction will be held at the Spring Gully Soccer Club in Stanley Street, Spring Gully, on Saturday, January 30, at 7pm. Live entertainment will follow the auction. Tickets are $10 and are available by contacting Nick van Dalen on 0408 587 892, Danny McQuinn on 0403 355 592 or Vanessa Milne on 0438 611 720. Information regarding the night and inquiries regarding the donation of auction items can be made to any of them or by visiting http://sgusc.sportzvault.com/A web page detailing Stu’s progress has also been set up at www.stutimms.com and money donations can be made into the Stu Timms trust account at any Bendigo and Adelaide Bank branch.
