DAY ONE: Teachers enjoy themselves at games

Sporting events:
Sport is the name of the game for teachers this week.
More than 45 different events will bring more than 2000 teachers to compete in the sporting events.
On Tuesday archery will begin at 9am at Tresize Track in Wellsford State Forest.
Badminton will start at 9am at the Bendigo District Badminton Association Stadium.
Basketball will begin at 9am at the Bendigo Stadium.
Bubble Football will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
It will go from 9am to 5pm.
Croquet will take place at the Eaglehawk Croquet Club from 10am.
On Thursday beach volleyball will start at 8.45pm at Bendigo Major League Multisports.
Laser Tag will be held on Thursday with the first round kicking off at 8am.
The second round of laser tag will begin at 10am and the third and 12pm.
It will be held at The Zone Family Entertainment Complex.
Social events:
The games have partnered with The Foundry Hotel complex for the week.
The hotel will be the social hub for all teachers involved in the games.
The games promote Tap House as a place for teachers to get a quiet drink.
Puggs Irish Bar offers meals from 6pm.
The Black Swan Hotel and Star Bar are the official after party venues, offering special deals for the teachers games attendees.
Tuesday night dress-up theme is fluro or glow clothing, Wednesday means dress up in op-shop clothes.
UPDATE 5pm: THE teachers have checked-in and set off on the aMAZEing Bendigo race.
More than 100 people gathered to race around town.
This evening the teachers will celebrate the first day of school holidays with a Brownlow Medal themed party at The Foundry Hotel Complex.
EARLIER: THE 19th annual Victorian Teachers Games has kicked off today, bringing more than 2000 teachers jogging into Bendigo.
The first event of the week, called Amazing Bendigo, will go from 4pm to 6pm this afternoon.
The amazing race style event will see teachers scrambling around Bendigo's CBD searching for clues.
They will visit the Town Hall, Rosalind Park and Dai Gum San and more.
The games run from Monday September 22 to Thursday September 25.
They include current and retired employees from Victorian Catholic and independent schools.
The games have developed an app for this years events.
The app provides up to date information on the programs.
