The fire danger will be ‘very high’ across the Northern Country, North Central and Central districts, and severe in the Mallee and Wimmera.
Temperatures are set to reach the high 30s in central Victoria, coupled with light winds.
Echuca is even expected to top 40 degrees.
The fire danger period is already in place across the region throughout summer and most of autumn.
During this period, fires cannot be lit in the open air without a permit and other restrictions are also in place.
People are reminded to take care of themselves, more vulnerable people and pets in the heat by drinking plenty of water, staying somewhere cool, and avoiding going out in the hottest part of the day.
Daytime temperatures are forecast to fall by a few degrees on Thursday, when there is also the possibility of showers.
On Tuesday, the fire danger rating is high in the North Central district, and low to moderate in the Central and Northern Country districts.
