BOM says a vigorous west to norhtwesterly flow will continue over Victoria during the remainder of Monday with gusty showers and thunderstorms possible.
Localised damaging winds with gusts up to around 90 km/h associated with showers and thunderstorms are possible.
These conditions are likely to contract towards the coast overnight before extending inland again during Tuesday.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony;
* Keep clear of fallen power lines;
Warning for sheep graziers
BOM has warned sheep graziers that cold temperatures, showers and strong westerly winds are expected during the remainder of Monday and Tuesday.
Areas likely to be affected include the Wimmera, North Central, North East, South West, Central and West and South Gippsland districts and parts of the Northern Country and East Gippsland districts. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.
UPDATE 3.20pm: Bendigo Advertiser reader Chris Symons shared a video of snow falling at Musk Vale, south of Daylesford, on Monday afternoon.
Mr Symons said the snow came in fast and fell for about half an hour.
UPDATE 2.40pm: There are reports of snow in the Macedon Ranges and surrounding areas, including Mount Macedon, Trentham, Kyneton and Kilmore, among others.
Snow is reportedly falling as low as 400 metres.
The snow is expected to continue falling into tomorrow morning at altitudes of 400 metres and higher.
There have been several snowy days this winter.
UPDATE 2pm: A severe weather warning remains in place for much of central Victoria, with residents advised to brace themselves for damaging winds.
The Bureau of Meteorology says west to northwesterly winds of 50 to 60 km/h with gusts of 90 to 100 km/h are possible, along with showers and thunderstorms, in parts of the Central forecast district.
The rest of the warning area could experience winds with gusts of up to about 90 km/h, as well as showers and thunderstorms.
Trees have fallen on roads at Macedon and Woodend.
EARLIER: Central Victorians are being warned to prepare for wild weather, with damaging winds on the way.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for much of the region, including the North Central, Central, Northern Country and Wimmera forecast districts.
Localised damaging winds with gusts of up to 90km/h are forecast with showers and thunderstorms late Monday morning and afternoon.
Bendigo is headed for a top of 11 degrees, with the chance of hail also forecast along with the thunderstorms.
Echuca is headed for a top of 13; Redesdale 11; Castlemaine and Maryborough 10; and Kyneton 8.
A warning to sheep graziers is also in place for central Victoria.
