The 87-year-old endured the worst when he had his mobility scooter stolen from his Flora Hill home, but on Thursday night was given a lift when he was invited to Kangaroo Flat Football-Netball Club and presented with a cheque to help him buy a new one.
Allan’s grandchildren, Lloyd and Tia, both play football at the Roos, with the funds raised coming from the club’s annual ball last weekend.
“It’s a tremendous gesture by the club… I can’t believe it,” Allan said.
“They are a terrific club here at Kangaroo Flat.”
