POLICE have not ruled out arson as investigations into the June fire at the Junction Hotel at Ravenswood continue.
The Bendigo Crime Investigation Unit has renewed a call for witnesses to the June 9 blaze which caused $300,000 damage to the historic hotel on the Calder Highway.
The call comes as police on Thursday interviewed a 39 year-old Golden Square man in relation to the incident.
The man was released pending further inquiries.
Detective Sergeant Colin Grenfell has encouraged anyone who saw a person or vehicle near the hotel between 5pm and 9.30pm on June 9, to contact police.
"Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances around the fire and haven't ruled out arson," he said.
"We are calling for any witnesses who might have noticed a vehicle or person in the vicinity, or anything suspicious, to contact police."
The fire was discovered at 9.35pm and was believed to have started at about 9pm.
The hotel had not been in operation for more than 12 months at the time of the fire, and the owners were using it as their place of residence.
The owners were away from the property on the night of the fire. It had been on the market since January last year.
Police continued to treat the fire as suspicious in the days after the hotel was destroyed.
Anyone who can assist the police in their investigations can contact Bendigo CIU on 5448 1300 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
