At 5.26am the temperature was minus 1.3 degrees.
The sub-zero temperatures chilled the region, resulting in a blanket of frost.
Bureau of Meterology duty forecaster Michael Efron warned the chilling morning temperatures would continue.
“Due to the light winds, the clear sky and the dry air mass that prevented fog from developing, the temperature plummeted,” he said.
